I was able to spend about 30 minutes with them as they shared their perception and experience of communist country of Poland.
They explained that they had one pair of shoes per six months, one tube of tooth paste per month, 11 gallons of fuel each month, etc... This was in 1985. I was 8 years old. I can't imagine living in an economy in which these type of rules/laws are enforced. You don't have the choice of driving to see friends and family. You don't have the choice of buying a second pair of shoes so that your work shoes can be different from nice dress shoes and it doesn't matter how hard you work for your items or money. You are still only allotted or rationed what the law allows.
They also both shared their feelings on Obama and the lack of business knowledge. They spoke of how he would not even know how to manage a trucking business. Made me laugh but that comes from two that see outside the box.
As I was thinking about this (as they were talking) I realized we are not that far off. Chicago just passed laws that homeowners can no longer own handguns in their own homes that are used to protect themselves and their children. How is that possible? America... WAKE UP!! We are "electing" people that do not have our best interest in mind.
They also mention that when they came over to Canada, they had nothing. Through hard work and smart financing, they own a 500k dollar home, as truck drivers.
We are blessed to live in America. This is an outstanding country with limitless potential.

Well put...we are heading for difficult times ahead and unless you have lived somewhere where freedom ISN'T free then we have no clue. We are like frogs in a pot of cold water that keeps heating up (By our government) and unless we notice the changes we will be in boiling water and can't do a dang thing about it.
I've never in my life been as nervous about our nation being so unstable as I am today. I look at the movies we produce, the TV programs, literature, music and so on, understanding somewhat why other countries find us so distasteful, but to have the "leader" of said nation actually travel to the ends of the earth and agree with them is really unforgivable! It has always been clear to me that our President hates America and is determined to destroy it. Many years ago a quote went out from the John Birch Society, stating "America will never fall from without, but will from within." Now we know how that will happen. There is greed and corruption on every level of every organization in our country and a President that craves power. He doesn't want to just be the US President, he wants to be President of the WORLD. To give that power to such an individual as he, we've shown ourselves to be so open-minded, our brains have fallen out. I would say "God help us", but I think as a nation, we have pretty much eliminated Him from our lives. Following the counsel of self-reliance is the only way I can see us being blessed now. I do so love my country, but clearly, I am terrified of the government.
Dude, I think it's time to update your blog. A new voting year is coming up!!
